Friday Newsletter | January 6, 2023

We are looking forward to our upcoming Spirit Week – January 9-13! Each day we have a different fun theme. We want everyone to participate and earn points for the Spirit Stick competition!

Monday | Country/Farm Day – Dress up as a member of a farm family or a farm animal.

Tuesday | Dress Like a Teacher Day – Here is your chance to dress like one of our teachers at GCS. Show off your best teacher imitations.

Wednesday | Tacky Tourist Day/Calorie Day – Dress as tacky and as touristy as you want! Pull out those socks and sandals, sun visors, Hawaiian shirts, etc. Students are also allowed to bring extra snacks and drinks to have in class.

Thursday | Dynamic Duo Day – Find a partner and come as a famous duo. It could be anything from Batman and Robin to Ketchup and Mustard.

Friday | GCS Spirit Day/Anything but a Backpack Day – Show your school spirit by dressing in our school colors Blue, Gray, and White. You may be creative, but please, no face paint. In addition, students can show their creativity by bringing their books to school in anything but a backpack – just remember, some of you have stairs to climb.

*Dress code reminders:

  • Students not participating in the theme of the day should wear a regular school uniform.
  • Participating students should adhere to the dress code guidelines for appropriateness and modesty: shirts should have sleeves, shorts should be knee-length, and all pants should be loose-fitting.
  • Denim may be worn for any dress up day (this includes jeans).
  • Students wearing anything that does not meet these guidelines may be asked to change.

Fine Arts run-offs for students in grades 4-12 will be held this month. Memorization is not
required for run-offs, but students should have their music and instruments with them. Teachers will be contacting students about specific runoff times.
