We have so many new faces around GCS this year! Each week for the next few newsletters, we will highlight both a new staff member and a returning staff member to help all of us get to know each other better.

Jenny Williams | Miss Williams came to GCS in 1983. This is her 40th year at Grace which makes her the staff member with the longest running career. She has taught 3rd grade, 5th grade, and for many years now has been the 6th grade teacher. Alumni that come by to visit will seek her out as one of their favorite teachers.

Valerie Carlson | This is Mrs. Carlson’s first year at Grace. She is one of our lunchroom ladies. About a year ago, her family moved to Columbia from New York. The Carlson’s have 4 children that attend the elementary school at GCS. Her dad is the pastor at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church here in the Columbia area. Valerie enjoys plants and eating chocolate!

Terri Colwell | Mrs. Colwell taught at GCS from 2006-2011 in the Jr. High and then returned in 2015 to teach in the Elementary. She is our 4th grade teacher, and in the past has been the girl’s basketball coach. Both of Mrs. Colwell’s daughters graduated from Grace and were very involved in the music, sports, and drama programs. Mrs. Colwell enjoys sports which makes her an extra fun teacher at recess time!
